'Uses of the Erotic'

 

is a visual response to the eponymous essay by Audre Lorde. 'The erotic has often been misnamed by men and used against women. It has been made into the confused, the trivial, the psychotic, the plasticised sensation.'

 

These works represent the start of a much larger journey into reclaiming the erotic in photography; red lines re-applied from the original contact sheet edits reflect this notion of work in progress.
